MPs don't give 2 thumbs up

A gonzo video recording of the press conference on 21 May, when Lelaki Komunis Terakhir was screened for Malaysian MPs and some media folks at Finas. Featuring comments by Rais Yatim, Lim Kit Siang, Jins Shamsuddin and many more.

It is only minimally edited, and presented in English and Malay with no subtitles. Total running time is 30 minutes but it is broken up into 4 parts here.

I would like to thank the hard-working staff of Greenlight Pictures for uploading the video.

Someone needs to transcribe this footage. I'll do the English bits if someone can do the Malay bits.

I've been trying to represent this issue fairly on Wikinews. The culmination of which is here:

http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Malaysia_bans_%22The_Last_Communist%22

With a little help from the wikinews collective it got done.

Of course I should have posted this link weeks ago.

I wonder how they would have reacted to The Wastelands when it first came out?

Malaysian MP: It is ridiculous! RIDICULOUS, I tell you! I mean, if he wanted to write a poem, why does he include so many nonsense words? And he doesn't even bother to rhyme. Mary Had a Little Lamb now there's a poem, at least I can understand what it means.

Because as we know, art is monochromatic and it has to appeal to the lowest common denominator (I don't know how much lower you can go than our MPs and if any of them are reading this, sorry, I am not able to speak in words of one syllable to facilitate your understanding; elitist, but true)
